Hearts aren’t something to be afraid of, but what do you do when they attack? In this age of relity TV, the man on the street shooting style relates to an audience, and is one Matt Pittroff has worked with in both his National Aquarium "Chili Dog" spot and Bruster's "Spring Break". Most recently in that aesthetic, Matt Pittroff worked with the American Heart Association to create this public service announcement. Honing in on his interest with production design, Pittroff created a spot that is darker than his norm but still with Pittroff quirky charm. With a man in a giant and intimidating heart suit, Pittroff took heart attack to the literal.

Coming straight from a shoot for Daily's and as a follow up to shooting with RC Cola, Debruyne released this spot and music video for Coke. Working with contest winners, Marc Andrè utilized his talents on working with youth to create another captivating party sequence, but with a more intimate vibe. In the past, Marc Andrè’s music videos have won him the Director of the Year award at the 2012 Much Music Awards as well as recognition in pop culture.

Matt Pittroff Speaks at ADDY Week STL
On February 21, Matt Pittroff joined ADDY Week STL and presented at the director’s luncheon, hosted by David Johnson and Coolfire Media. Matt spoke to the audience not only about how he works, but about his specific process for some of his Ameristar, Affinity Plus and Ad Council work. Matt commented "I think of myself more in advertising than filmmaking” in that he takes the spot, scenes, location, and art direction, and utilizes those tools to sell the message. Matt spoke to the group about having the ability to let go of an idea you may love for the benefit of the spot, the “moving puzzle” of taking the boards and script and figuring how to make the creative idea into a final product, and how the first phone call with the agency is incredibly important.

Blue cross Blue Shield of Illinois asked, “What’s Changing?” and Rich Michell answered. In collaboration with Designwrite Advertising, Rich brought his warmth and style to four new spots for Blue cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Rich displayed his range of talent through the different spots: “What’s Changing” and “Retirement Changes Everything” focuses on people and their interactions and personal life change. “Confused by Choices” and “What Do You Want” showcase his experience with both spokesperson and his signature, clean tabletop/water look. Matt Pittroff in collaboration with agency Marc USA in Pittsburgh, PA, recently paired comedy with flu season information for Rite Aid. “Nail Gun” and “Basement” are two :30 spots that illustrate how some may be hiding from fearless spreading bacteria (aka the flu). The campaign for Rite Aid promotes the free flu shot, available without an appointment. Pittroff illustrates directorial talent by showcasing a humorous, but informative campaign.

Twist has welcomed Staff Rep Bettina Warshaw. Bettina Warshaw loves to connect – people, communities, and collaborators. Born and raised in New York, Bettina attended Emerson College and graduated with a degree in Theater Studies. Most recently, Bettina was the Forward Motion Coordinator at the collaborative platform Grind. In her spare time, she continues to write and perform in her own theatrical work, and is currently working on self-publishing a collection of short stories.

Director Grady Cooper's new spot "Plates" for Yo Greek features a lovely couple in their kitchen as they go through their daily routine. A man eats his container of Yo Greek for breakfast, and to his wife's irritation, he finds himself overcome by Greek-ness. Bouzouki music fills their kitchen, and our husband smashes all of their plates with high kicks and charmingly obnoxious flair. Cooper's spot showcases his love for the absurd, and he brings his knack for pulling out the unexpected to a familiar feeling couple and every day situation.

Jim Gieb, President and Owner of New York & Minneapolis based company, Twist, hosted this year's AICP Show on its tour to Minneapolis. Along with Chapter Vice President, Kel Nelson, Geib successfully created a live action show opener which involved 90 volunteer members of the local film community. Stocksmith Collaborates on "Pong For Teeth" Event
Associate Creative Directors Matthew Bottkol and Todd Eisner from Dentsu NY called on Twist Director Chris Stocksmith, well-known for his storytelling and documentary-style of shooting, for an unusual local community effort. The talented trio has gotten behind a new documentary project called “Pong For Teeth” for Brooklyn-based Bartender Jamie Mandel. Jamie, who lost nine teeth in 1995 when his car was hit by a drunk driver, will be playing a 15-hour ping-pong tournament on Saturday, April 30th with the hopes of raising $35,000 for a new set of teeth.
